Fig. 13 Removing retaining ring, ball hub & joint from shaft. Type 2
1. Remove clamp at large end of boot.
2. Remove retaining ring (A), Spread ring, tap the ball hub (B) and slide the joint (C) off shaft (D).
3. Remove boot from shaft.
4. Remove as much grease as possible from assembly. Do not use any cleaning solvents.
5. Inspect constant velocity joint. Replace entire joint as an assembly, if required.

Assembly
1. Install replacement boot retainer (E) and boot (F) onto shaft.
2. Install a replacement retaining ring (A) into constant velocity joint ring groove (H).
3. Lubricate constant velocity joint (J) and interior of boot (F) with suitable grease supplied in the service kit.
4. Install the constant velocity joint (J) onto shaft (G). Ensure retaining ring is completely seated in its groove.
5. Seat boot in constant velocity joint housing and shaft grooves, then install boot clamps.
