Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Adjustments

NOTES:

a.

This adjustment is only required after the throttle body and/or Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor has been replaced, and is only used to establish the
initial position of the actuator.

b.

An ISC Exerciser Tool 7088 or equivalent is required to successfully complete the adjustment of the ISC motor.  Slight modification to the ISC
Exerciser Tool connector may be required so that it can be connected to the ISC motor.  Use a hobby knife, and cut a groove in the casing of the
exerciser connector to match the grooves in the connector of the ISC motor. 

1.

START the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.

2.

Turn air conditioning to OFF position.

Connect a tachometer across diagnostic connector D1 terminals 1 and 3.

4.

Disconnect the Idle Speed Control (ISC) electrical connector from the motor.

5.

Connect the ISC Exerciser Tool to the ISC motor.

6.

Using the Exerciser Tool, extend the ISC plunger fully.

Turn the adjustment screw, while watching the tachometer, until the engine speed is 3500 rpm.

8.

Disconnect and remove the ISC Exerciser Tool and connect the ISC electrical connector.  Idle speed should return to normal after a few
seconds.
