SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
On some 1988-1989 Premiers an interference condition of the lower control arm with the right inner CV joint boot could occur when the vehicle is at or
near full jounce suspension travel.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the right inner CV joint boot in the area of the large band clamp. If the boot is cut around the circumference, next to the edge of the band clamp,
proceed with this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2.
Loosen both engine mount nuts, to within a few threads of the end.

Raise the engine enough to install the spacer under the right engine mount. The spacer must be placed so that the opening of the slot in the shim is
pointed toward the center of the vehicle (Figure 1).
4.
Lower engine onto the spacer and torque nuts to 68 N-m (48 ft.lbs.).
NOTE:
INSTALLATION OF THE ENGINE MOUNT SPACER MAY CAUSE AN INTERFERENCE OF THE ENGINE COVER WITH THE
HOOD.
