Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Front Coil Spring Replace
1. Remove shock absorber.
2. Install spring compressor tool J-23474 through upper spring seat opening, place tool lower attaching screws through shock absorber mounting
holes in the lower spring seat. Install tool lower retainer.
3. Remove lower spring seat pivot retaining nuts.
4. Tighten compressor until spring is compressed approximately 1 inch.
5. Raise and support front of car under frame allowing control arms to fall free of lower spring seat. Remove wheel.
6. Pull lower spring seat away from car. Loosen compressor and allow lower spring seat to come out.
7. When all spring tension is released, remove tool lower retainer spring seat and spring.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
