SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Some Summit models, built prior to 04/17/89 (MDH), may have water leaking into the trunk around the combination lamp due to poor adhesion of the
body-to-combination lamp sealer. This condition can be corrected by changing the combination lamp-to-body sealer.

1 3M Windo-Weld Ribbon Sealer

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the combination lamp as explained on page 8 256 in Volume 2 of the 1989 Colt/Summit Service Manual, Publication No. 81-270-9012.
2.
Remove all the sealer from the combination lamp housing and the mating surface on the body of the vehicle.
3.
Check the body mounting surface to insure it has not been bent or damaged during the removal of the combination lamp and sealer.
4.
Remove the rubber dam attached to the upper side of the lamp back and apply 3M Windo-Weld Sealer as shown on page 8-257 in Volume 2 of the
1989 Colt/Summit Service Manual. Begin applying the sealer at the bottom of the combination lamp housing maintaining tension on the string so
the sealer is 6-7 mm diameter. The sealer should overlap by 1.0 inch at the bottom of the combination lamp housing.
NOTE:
DO NOT USE THE MOPAR ROPE CAULK PN 4026044 SPECIFIED IN THE SERVICE MANUAL.
5.
Position the combination lamp assembly on the vehicle and press firmly to create an even seal between the body and the combination lamp.
6.
Install the retaining nuts and tighten to 43 in.lbs. +/- 13 in.lbs torque.
