Throttle Full Close Switch: Adjustments
CAUTION: The Idle Position Switch has been adjusted by the manufacturer. Do NOT change the setting. If the Idle Position Sensor has been replaced
or if the switch position has been altered, follow the reset procedures below.
1.
Loosen the tension of the accelerator cable.
Idle Position Switch, Connector, And Locking Nut
2.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
3.
Loosen the locking nut.
4.
Loosen the Idle Position Switch by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. This will cause the throttle valve to close fully.
NOTE: Verify that the throttle valve is completely closed.
5.
Connect an ohmmeter between the Idle Position Switch terminal and body.
6.
Turn down the Idle Position Switch until continuity is established. This is called the Touch Point and indicates the point where the throttle valve
starts to open.
7.
Turn the switch 15/16 of a turn more from the touch point.
8.
While holding the Idle Position Switch to make sure it doesn't turn, tighten the lock nut.
9.
Check and adjust the accelerator cable.
10.
Check and adjust the Basic Idle Speed.
11.
Reset the Throttle Position Sensor.
