DISCUSSION
To prevent damaging the overdrive (OD) transmission selector knob when removing the overdrive switch, the following procedure should be followed:
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the transmission selector knob as outlined in the appropriate service manual.
2.
Place the OD switch in the "OFF" position, (the switch button protrudes).

Using a small flat blade screwdriver gently pry the button loose as shown in Figure 1.
