VALVE ADJUSTMENT
1. Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC on compression stroke.
2. Adjust valve clearance at points shown with outlined arrow in Fig. 22.
3. Loosen adjusting screw locknut.
4. Using a feeler gauge, adjust valve clearance by turning adjusting screw. On cold engines, correct valve clearance for intake valves is 0.004 inches,
and 0.008 inches for exhaust valves. On hot engines, correct valve clearance for intake valves is 0.008 inches, and 0.012 inches for exhaust
valves.
5. While holding adjusting screw with a screwdriver, tighten locknut.
6. Rotate crankshaft one complete turn clockwise, then adjust valve clearance at points shown with solid arrow in Fig. 22.
