Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
1. Verify the following conditions:
a. Engine fully warmed up. (185-205° F)
b. All lights, engine cooling fan and accessories "OFF".
c. Transmission in P or N.
d. Steering wheel in the straight ahead position (models with power steering only).
Closed Throttle (Idle) Position Switch Circuit

1. Verify that the throttle cable has enough slack that it is not holding the throttle open in any way. Loosen the adjustment bolts for the throttle cable
if necessary.
Closed Throttle (Idle) Position Switch Testing
2. Disconnect the harness connector and connect an ohmmeter to the closed throttle position switch connector terminals #1 and #2. Refer to the
connector in the image.
Using Feeler Gauge To Position Throttle Sensor
5. Insert a 0.656 mm (0.0256 in.) feeler gauge between the speed adjusting screw (SAS) and throttle lever.
