SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The sliding door may not open by either the inside or outside door handles.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the center pillar striker is not adjusted properly, excess opening effort may cause the latch linkage to disengage from their snaps and/or holders.

1.

Remove the upper trim panel from the sliding door and peel the watershield down.

2.

Inspect the linkage attaching points (Figure 1).

3.

If the linkage attaching points are disconnected, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair procedure involves replacing two clips that attach the latch linkage and adjusting the door if required.

1.

Replace the rear door lock holder with P/N MU481239 and rear door locking snap with P/N MU481259 (Figure 1).

2.

Operate the sliding door to determine if the unlatching effort is excessively high.
