dropping out.
2. Inspect lash adjuster as outlined under Hydraulic Lifter, Replace.
3. Prior to installing auto lash adjuster, prime lash adjuster as follows:

a. Immerse auto lash adjuster in clean diesel fuel.
b. Using a small wire, move plunger up and down four or five times while pushing down lightly on check ball to bleed out air, Fig. 24.
c. Insert lash adjuster from below, ensure not to spill out diesel fuel inside.
d. Install auto lash adjuster holder tool No. MD998443, or equivalent.
4. Temporarily tighten rocker arm shaft so all rocker arms on inlet side do not push valves.

5. Remove lash adjuster holder tool and ensure notches of rocker shafts are in direction as shown in Fig. 26.
6. Use seal installation tool No. MD998713, or equivalent, to install camshaft oil seal.
