Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection
A/C COMPRESSOR
1. Pull or push at the point (a) or (b) with a force of 98 N (22 lbs.) to measure drive belt deflection. The standard value is approximately 6.5 - 7.5
mm (0.26 - 0.30 inch)
2. Use a tension gauge to measure belt tension. The standard value is 255 - 333 N (57.3 - 75.0 lbs.).
GENERATOR
Use a tension gauge to check that the belt tension is within the standard value, or check that the belt deflection is within the standard value when the
middle point between the pulleys shown is pressed with a force of 98 N (22 lbs.). The standard tension value is 245 - 490 N (55.1 - 110.2 lbs.). The
deflection (reference value) is 9.0 - 11.5 mm (0.35 - 0.45 inch).
POWER STEERING
1. Pull or push at the mid point of the belt with a force of 98 N (22 lbs.) to measure drive belt deflection. The standard value is 5.5 - 8.0 mm (0.22 -
0.32 inch).
2. Use a tension gauge to measure belt tension. The standard value is 245 - 490 N (55.1 - 110.2 lbs.).
