Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Ball Joint Replacement
Ball Joint Replacement (Front Suspension)
NOTE: If there are any cracks in or damage to the dust cover, replace the arm assembly.
DUST COVER REPLACEMENT
Replace the dust cover by the following procedure only if the dust cover has become damaged by accident during servicing.
1. Remove the dust cover.
2. Apply Mopar (R) Multi-mileage Lubricant Part No. 2525035 or equivalent to the lip and inside of the dust cover.
3. Also apply Mopar (R) Multi-mileage Lubricant Part No. 2525035 or equivalent to the lateral lower arm dust cover in the places shown.
4. Using the special tool, drive in the dust cover to the position shown.
5. Press the dust cover with your finger to check that there are no cracks in or damage to the dust cover.
Ball Joint Replacement (Rear Suspension)
NOTE: If there are any cracks in or damage to the dust cover, replace the arm assembly.
TOE CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT DUST COVER REPLACEMENT
Replace the dust cover by the following procedure only if the dust cover has become damaged by accident during servicing.
1. Remove the dust cover.
2. Apply Mopar (R) Multi-mileage Lubricant Part No. 2525035 or equivalent to the lip and inside of the dust cover.
3. Drive in the dust cover with the special tool until it is fully seated.
Upper Ball Joint Replacement
NOTE: If there are any cracks in or damage to the dust cover, replace the arm assembly.
DUST COVER REPLACEMENT
Replace the dust cover by the following procedure only if the dust cover has become damaged by accident during servicing.
1. Remove the dust cover.
2. Apply Mopar (R) Multi-mileage Lubricant Part No.2525035 or equivalent to the lip and inside of the dust cover.
3. Drive in the dust cover with special tool until it is fully seated.
