Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Module: Service and Repair

WARNING:  Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, unless otherwise noted, you must first disconnect
and isolate battery ground cable. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.

WARNING:  If replacing a deployed module, wear gloves and eye protection. There will be deposits on and around the airbag that could cause
skin and eye irritation. If material does come into contact with the body, flush with plenty of cold water.

WARNING:  The ASDM contains one of the impact sensors which enables the system to activate the airbag. To avoid accidental deployment,
never connect ASDM electrically to system unless it is bolted to vehicle.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then wait 2 minutes before working on vehicle.
2. On five passenger models, remove upper console seal and ash receiver then the shifter knob and bezel.
3. On six passenger models, remove lower center retaining screws and the trim cover.
4. On all models, disconnect Airbag Control Module (ACM) (Airbag System Diagnostic Module (ASDM)) 4-way and 13-way connectors.
5. Remove module mounting screws and the module.

INSTALLATION

1. Install ACM (ASDM) (arrow pointing forward) in instrument panel support bracket ensuring insert tab on ACM (ASDM) is in slot on support

bracket.

2. Attach ACM (ASDM) to support bracket and torque to 105-125 inch lbs.
3. Connect 4-way and 13-way connectors ensuring both connectors and all locking tabs are engaged
4. On five passenger models, install shifter bezel and knob then the ash receiver and upper console.
5. On six passenger models, in stall lower trim cover and retaining screws.
6. Do not connect battery ground cable. Refer to Testing and Inspection/Procedures.
