Door/Trunk Ajar Indicator/Lamp: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION
Door Ajar Lamp
This feature is used to alert the operator the drivers door is ajar while the vehicle is in motion. The Body Control Module (BCM) uses information
on vehicle speed from the CCD Bus and circuit G75 which connects to the drivers door ajar switch.
Power for the door ajar lamp is provided on circuit G5. Ground for the lamp is provided on circuit G0. This circuit connects between the message
center and the Body Control Module (BCM).
The door ajar switches provide an input to the BCM indicating when the doors are ajar. There are four case grounded switches located in the door
pillars. These switches are normally OPEN.
Circuit G74 is the input to the BCM for the right front, right rear and left rear doors. The G75 circuit is the input to the BCM for the left front
door.
When a door is ajar a ground path is completed from the BCM, circuit G74 or G75, through the closed, switch to ground.
The BCM processes this signal and grounds circuit G0 illuminating the lamp in the message center.
Trunk Ajar Lamp
Power for the trunk ajar lamp is provided on the M1 circuit. Ground for the lamp is provided through the case grounded switch located in the truck
latch. This switch is normally OPEN.
When the trunk is ajar the switch CLOSES completing a path to ground. This causes the lamp in the message center to illuminate, and the trunk
lamp to illuminate.
