Ball Joint: Service and Repair
BALL JOINT SEAL REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the ball joint seal requiring replacement from the lower control arm. Ball joint seal is removed by prying it off lower control arm with a
screwdriver.
2. By hand, initially install the replacement ball joint seal on the lower control arm.
3. Support the lower control arm for installation of the ball joint seal using a 1 1/4 inch socket. Position the 1 1/4 inch socket, lower control arm and
Seal Installer, Special Tool MB-990800, or equivalent in an arbor press.
4. Using Installer, Special Tool MB-990800, or equivalent press seal onto ball joint housing until it is squarely seated against top surface of control
arm.
