Oil Pan: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and set aside.
2. Remove oil level dipstick, then raise and support vehicle.
3. On models equipped with low oil level sensor, remove retainer clip at sensor, then the electrical connector from sensor.
4. Drain engine oil.
5. Remove starter motor.
6. Remove transmission.
7. Remove oil pan bolts.
8. Remove oil pan.
9. Remove and discard oil pan gasket.

10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Clean gasket surfaces on cylinder block and oil pan.
b. Apply suitable silicone sealer to junction of rear main bearing cap and cylinder block and junction of front cover assembly and cylinder block.

NOTE:  When using silicone rubber sealer, assembly should occur within 15 minutes after sealer application. After this time, sealer may start to
set up and its sealing effectiveness may be reduced.

c. Secure oil pan gasket to cylinder block with gasket an trim adhesive part No. D7AZ-19B408-B, or equivalent.
d. Fill crankcase with correct viscosity and amount of engine oil.
e. When battery has been disconnected and connected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while Powertrain Control Module relearns its

adaptive strategy. Vehicle may need to be driven ten miles or more to relearn strategy.
