Air Filter Element: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamp at air cleaner outlet tube to mass air flow sensor (MAF sensor) and remove air cleaner outlet tube from mass
air flow sensor.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from mass air flow sensor. Disconnect intake air temperature sensor wiring from the intake air
temperature sensor on the air cleaner cover.
3. Loosen air cleaner cover retaining screws until cover is free from air cleaner body. Do not remove screws.
4. Position air cleaner cover aside.
CAUTION: Do not tamper with sensing elements located in the airflow bypass of the mass airflow sensor.
5. Remove air cleaner element.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean all inside surfaces of engine air cleaner.
2. Install the air cleaner element.
3. Position air cleaner cover. Install bolts or fasten retaining clips. Tighten bolts to 3.0-4.0 Nm (27-35 lb in), if equipped.
4. Connect engine control sensor wiring to mass air flow sensor. Connect intake air temperature sensor wiring to the intake air temperature sensor.
5. Install air cleaner outlet tube. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamp to 3.0-5.0 Nm (27-44 lb in).
