Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Rear

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Using suitable jack to support rear axle, disconnect shock absorber from lower mounting, then lower axle assembly until all spring pressure is

relieved.

3. Remove lower and upper spring retainer nuts and bolts, then the spring, retainers and insulators.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. When installing coil spring, ensure tapered coil (white marking) of spring faces upward.
b. Tighten upper spring retainer bolt and nut to 30-40 ft lb, lower spring retainer and shock absorber nuts and bolts to 41-65 ft lb and upper

shock absorber nuts and bolts to 25-35 ft lb.
