Safety Recall 95S03 - Certain 1995 Model Year Aerostar Regular Length Wagons and Vans and equipped with the Under Body Spare Tire Carrier -
Replacement of T135/80D15 Mini-Spare Tire
Affected Vehicles
Certain 1995 Model Year Aerostar regular length wagons (built from 10-13-94 through 11-9-94) and vans (built from 10-13-94 through 11-16-94) at the
St. Louis Assembly Plant and equipped with the under body spare tire carrier and 15" mini-spare tire.
Reasons For Recall
Some of the affected vehicles may be equipped with a T135/80D15 mini-spare tire that does not fit into the under body spare tire carrier. If the
mini-spare is installed in the under body spare tire carrier, it may contact the axle mounted hydraulic brake line. If such contact is not detected and
corrected, the brake line could be damaged.
To correct this condition, dealers will remove the T135/80D15 mini-spare tire and install a T135/70D15 tire. (Note: the wheel will not be replaced). The
axle mounted brake line is to be inspected and repaired if damaged.
