Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
Dana Models 30 & 35 Rear Axle
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove wheel and tire assembly, then the rear brake drum.
2. Working through hole in axle shaft flange, remove axle shaft bearing retainer plate nuts.

3. Using suitable puller, remove axle shaft from housing, Use care when removing to prevent damage to oil seal.
4. Using suitable slide hammer, remove bearing outer race from axle housing.
5. Remove brake backing plate and suspend it from the chassis with wire.
6. If axle shaft bearing or seal are to be replaced, proceed as follows:
a. Position axle shaft in a suitable vise.
