Ignition Stator Assembly

Closed Bowl Distributor (Typical) - Exploded View

NOTE:  DO NOT attempt to replace the stator without a press and a bearing separator.

1.

Remove the distributor cap, moving the cap and wires aside to allow access to the distributor.

2.

Disconnect the distributor electrical connection.

NOTE:  To disconnect the module connector, push on the connector where it says PUSH, then slide connector from module.

3.

Mark the rotor position on the distributor, then remove the rotor.

4.

Remove the distributor from the engine.

5.

Remove the two Thick Film Ignition (TFI) module retaining screws, then slide the module down to disengage the module connector pins from the
stator.  Remove the TFI module from the distributor.  

6.

Mark the distributor gear position on the distributor shaft.

NOTE:  Mark the shaft on the inside of the oil drive socket to prevent removing the mark when gear is removed.

7.

Remove and discard the roll pin holding the distributor gear on the shaft.
