ISSUE:
A "popping" or "clunking" noise and a floor board vibration may occur during braking. The noise and/or vibration may be caused by the front brake
caliper suddenly springing away from the caliper abutment and returning.
ACTION:
Check and adjust the brake pads and caliper knuckle clearance by using the following service procedure.
1.
Road test to confirm that the "popping" or "clunking" noise occurs only during braking at the initial part of the stop.
2.
Raise the front of the vehicle.
a.
Remove the front wheels.
b.
Remove the pins from the caliper.
3.
While holding the caliper in place against the bottom pin rails, Figure 1, measure the clearance between the caliper and the top pin rails.
