This extended coverage will be provided for 3 years or 60,000 kilometers, whichever occurs first, from your vehicle's Original Warranty Start Date, or
until July 31, 1992, whichever gives you the greater coverage.
Description Of DRL System Operation:
The DRL System is designed to turn the Hi beam headlights ON with a reduced light output. This is accomplished when the following conditions are
met:
^
the vehicle is running.
^
the parking brake is fully released.
^
the headlight switch is in OFF position.
Symptoms Of Abnormal DRL System Operation:
Symptoms associated with an improperly operating DRL module, normally include reduced, flickering or no DRL illumination. In some instances, the
DRL may remain on when the ignition is turned OFF.
Normal Lo and Hi beam headlight operation is not affected.
No Cost Service: Should you encounter symptoms such as described above, contact your Ford or Mercury dealer. Your dealer will replace the DRL
control module on your vehicle under the terms of this program at no cost to you.
NOTE:
Headlight bulb or sealed beam replacement is not covered by this program.
How Long Will It Take?
The time needed for this service is less than one hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full working
day.
Call Your Dealer:
Call your dealer should your vehicle experience any of the above described conditions.
Ask your dealer for a service appointment and if parts are in stock. Also ask your dealer to check the OASIS system for any other recalls or programs
that may be required on your vehicle.
If you have leased this vehicle to another person or organization, please immediately inform the lessee of the program.
When you bring your vehicle in, show the dealer this letter. If you lose the letter your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
Refunds:
A full refund is available if you paid for the service covered by this Program (Daytime Running Light Control Module replacement only - parts and
labor). Please give the original copy of your paid work-order or parts receipt to your dealer. Your dealer will arrange for the refund (which could take
about one month).
Changed Name, Address, Or Sold The Vehicle?
If you have changed your name or address, or have sold the vehicle, please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard. Sign and date it, and mail the card to
Ford.
If you cannot get the service performed, contact the Ford "Customer Assistance Centre" at the address identified in the letterhead of this letter. Please
identify your vehicle's serial number in any correspondence.
