Ignition Switch: Service and Repair
Fixed Steering Column
Removal
1. ROTATE lock cylinder key to lock position. Remove negative battery cable from battery.
2. Remove steering wheel.
3. Remove the panel to the right of the steering column by removing two screws at the bottom of the panel and pulling the panel toward you.
4. Remove the trim shroud by removing the 4 screws at the bottom of the shroud. Swing the bottom panel of the shroud open and remove the 2
screws attaching the shroud to the retaining plate. Remove the lock cylinder. Remove the shroud by first raising the left side so that the window for
the turn signal switch lever is up past the lever receptacle, then pull up on the right side of the shroud until the lock cylinder embossment clears the
lock cylinder housing. The shroud then can be worked past the instrument panel.
