LIGHT TRUCK:
1990-91 AEROSTAR
ISSUE:
A low frequency pulsating noise, along with a steering column and floor pan vibration, may be present under heavy loading, high cornering and low ride
heights. This condition may be caused by vehicle sensitivity to halfshaft cardan joint angles.
ACTION:
Replace the cardan joint halfshaft with a constant velocity halfshaft (F19Z-3A466-A). Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1.
Determine that the vehicle was built prior to 7/31/91. (Vehicles built after 7/31/91 include a constant velocity halfshaft, thus making this repair
unnecessary.)
2.
Replace the cardan joint halfshaft with a constant velocity halfshaft (F19Z-3A466-A). Refer to the 1992 Aerostar Service Manual, Section 05-04,
for removal and installation details. Also, refer to Figures 1 and 2.
