Arming and Disarming

DISARMING

1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
2. Remove driver's air bag module as follows:
a. Remove four bolts retaining air bag module to steering wheel.
b. Disconnect air bag electrical connector from slip ring/clockspring connectors and remove air bag assembly.
3. Connect Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00009, or equivalent, to vehicle harness at top of steering column.
4. Remove passenger's air bag module as follows:

a. Open glove compartment door, then remove two glove compartment retaining screws.
b. Remove glove compartment.
c. Remove four air bag module retaining bolts.
d. Push air bag module outward from inside instrument panel.

CAUTION:  Do not handle air bag module by deployment doors.

e. Disconnect electrical connector, then remove air bag module.

5. Connect a second 105-0009, or equivalent, to passenger's air bag harness.
6. Connect battery ground cable.
7. Perform the necessary tests.

ARMING

1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Allow one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.

WARNING:  The air bag simulators must be removed and the air bag modules reconnected before the system is reactivated. 

2. Remove air bag simulator from harness on top of steering column.
3. Install driver's air bag module as follows:
a. Connect air bag electrical connector to slip ring/clockspring connector.
b. Position driver's air bag on steering wheel and secure with four nut and bolt assemblies.
4. Remove air bag simulator from vehicle passenger's air bag harness.
5. Install passenger's air bag module as follows

a. Connect air bag module electrical connector.
b. Position air bag module to instrument panel.
c. Install four air bag module retaining bolts.
d. Install glove compartment.

6. Connect battery ground cable.
7. Place ignition switch in RUN position and note air bag warning lamp operation. Indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately six seconds,

then turn OFF.
