SAFETY BELT, LAP/SHOULDER-REAR
The right rear safety belt and left rear safety belt have a three-point design. Folding the rear seat forward allows service access for the right rear safety
belt and left rear safety belt.
The rear seat shoulder safety belt extends from a safety belt retractor mounted to the vehicle structure underneath the luggage compartment side cover,
up to a rear safety belt guide located on the C-pillar. The safety belt is angled downward at the proper angle over the occupant's shoulder and chest to
the lap belt buckle. The safety belt then continues through the safety belt tongue to the lower quarter panel anchorage on the outboard side which acts
as a lap belt.
The safety belt retractors have an inertia-type locking mechanism. When the vehicle slows suddenly during heavy braking, a small weight swings a
locking pawl into position against teeth on the harness reel.
CAUTION: Do not disassemble the buckles or safety belt retractors.
Always replace the safety belt assemblies in matched pairs as received. The manufacturer's identification on the label of the retractor webbing must
match the manufacturer's identification on the buckle base. Never interchange any part of a safety belt assembly between vehicle models. If any part of
the safety belt assembly must be replaced, always replace the entire assembly.
Always replace the entire safety belt assembly if the assembly has been subjected to loading by passengers in a collision.
