Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sender: Testing and Inspection

1. Let engine cool, then disconnect water temperature indicator sender unit connector.
2. Measure resistance between water temperature indicator sender unit terminal and ground.
3. Start engine and check resistance as follows:

a. Between 89.7-154.3°F, 189.4-259.6 ohms.
b. Between 206.5-172.5°F, 24.2-28.1 ohms.

4. If resistance is not as specified, replace sender. If resistance is within specifications, return to system pinpoint test.  See: Engine, Cooling and
