Axle Bearing: Service and Repair

1983---87 EXC. 1986---87 F-350 W/DANA 60 MONOBEAM AXLE
1.
Remove axle shaft as described under ``Axle Shaft, Replace.''
2.
Remove carrier to cover support arm attaching screws, then separate carrier assembly from support arm and drain lubricant into a suitable
container.
3.
Install carrier assembly into a suitable holding fixture and rotate axle shaft until open side of snap ring is exposed.
4.
Remove snap ring, then slide slip yoke and shaft assembly from housing.
5.
Remove and discard right trunnion axle shaft seal from housing.
6.
Remove axle shaft bearing.
7.
Reverse procedure to install. Install bearing using tool No. T80T-4000-N or equivalent with bearing name and part number facing towards tool.
Apply a light coat of suitable grease to new seal prior to installation.
