NOISE - "SQUEAL" - 4.9L - ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT

LIGHT TRUCK:

1987 F SERIES, BRONCO, ECONOLINE

ISSUE:

Accessory drive belt squeal during engine start-up on 4.9L EFI engines with 70 or 100 amp alternators may be caused by a weak, automatic
belt tensioner.

ACTION:

To correct this, install a new improved tensioner (E7TZ-6B209-F) which has a stronger spring. Refer to the 1987 Light Truck Shop Manual,
Volume B, Section 27-06 for service procedure.
