Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
The sensor provides the Electronic Fuel Injection System with mixture (fuel and air) temperature information The ACT is used both as a density
corrector to air flow calculation and to proportion the cold enrichment fuel flow. This sensor is similar in construction to the Engine Coolant
Temperature (ECT) sensor, except it is packaged to improve sensor response time.
The sensor is rigidly threaded into a cylinder runner of the intake manifold or attached to the air cleaner and provides the fuel strategy with mixture
temperature information. The sensor input is used as a density corrector for air flow calculations and to proportion the cold enrichment fuel flow.
