REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM
Your Ranger may have been built with an optional rear bumper that may be or may become damaged as a result of trailer towing.
WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN
The trailer towing ball stud may move and cause the metal nearby or the step plate of the bumper to be damaged. You should be alerted to this condition
by the noise due to movement of the trailer ball stud. The looseness can also be seen as you adjust or attach a trailer and safety chains.
INSPECT YOUR TRUCK'S BUMPER
Please inspect your truck's bumper using the enclosed diagram. This inspection will determine whether or not you have to return your truck to your Ford
dealer for service. If you prefer, your dealer will inspect your truck's bumper.
RETURNING YOUR TRUCK FOR SERVICE
If your inspection reveals that your Ford dealer must service the bumper, please call to arrange for the service.
PROGRAM LIMITATIONS
This Service Program will be in effect for the remainder of your new vehicle limited warranty basic coverage or through December, 1988, whichever
provides the greater coverage. Your dealer will refund you for this service if you paid to have it done prior to the receipt of this letter.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Contact your Ford dealer as soon as possible. (Dealers have been notified of this service program and can assist you as necessary).
To obtain a refund for previous expense incurred in repairing this condition take your paid repair order or parts purchase receipt to your Ford dealer no
later than September 30, 1988. The dealer will process a refund if the repair was made prior to the receipt of this letter.
