REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM

Tests conducted by the Ford Motor Company have revealed that movement of the trailer towing ball stud attached to some of the bumpers may result in
damage to metal adjacent to the ball and loosening of the bumper step plate.

WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN

Drivers of Rangers with the bumper condition should be alerted by noise due to the movement of the trailer ball in the bumper. Displacement of the step
plate and looseness of the trailer ball should be visible when attaching a trailer and safety chains.

PROGRAM PROVISIONS

Because there are Rangers in the notified population that are not affected by this program, owners and dealers are being provided with special
instructions that will enable them to identify these trucks by a simple visual inspection.

Owners will be provided with a letter having bumper inspection instructions and will be asked to inspect their truck's bumpers and, if necessary return for
modification or replacement of the bumper. They will also be permitted to return to their Ford dealers for this inspection, if they so desire.

PROGRAM LIMITATIONS

The service provided by this program will be performed during the base vehicle warranty period or through December, 1988. whichever provides the
greater coverage. (Disregard time/mileage limitations through December, 1988.)

REFUNDS

Owners who have paid for service as a result of this condition prior to the receipt of notification of this program will be refunded
the costs of parts and labor including any deductible charges. Refund requests must be submitted to a dealer by September 30,
1988.

APPROVAL OF REFUND

Please provide prompt approval of refund requests for the bumper service covered by this program. Approval of requests should be made consistent with
the concept of the "Customer Care Partnership", (CCP).

Use the condition description, time/mileage and date limitations of this program to approve refund requests. Contact your Service Zone Manager for
assistance, in those instances, where you cannot resolve customer expectations.
