NOISE - "BUZZING" IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - 2.9L EFI - EGR VACUUM REGULATOR
LIGHT TRUCK:
1986-87 RANGER, BRONCO II
ISSUE:
A "buzzing" noise from the engine compartment at about 1400 RPM with the transmission in gear and under light load may be caused by the
mounting location of the EGR vacuum regulator (EVR). This noise should not be misdiagnosed as an instrument panel buzz.
ACTION:
To correct this, install an EVR insulator pad using the following service procedure.
1.
Check for "buzzing" noise at EGR vacuum regulator (EVR).

2.
Remove EVR and throw away original attaching screws, Figure 26.
3.
Position insulator pad (E7TZ-9S454-A) between EVR and mounting bracket, Figure 26.
4.
Re-install EVR with two (2) new attaching screws (N801460-S2).
5.
Check vacuum hoses and wiring connections to make sure they are secure. Make sure vacuum hoses and wiring are routed correctly.
