LIGHT TRUCK:
1986 RANGER, BRONCO II
ISSUE:
Slow start and/or no start conditions in low ambient temperatures of 10~F/-6~C or below may be caused by an overrich EEC IV processor
calibration and an incorrect throttle plate setting.
ACTION:
To correct this, reset throttle plate and install a new EEC IV processor to correct the overrich condition. Refer to the following service
diagnostic procedure.
1.
Check closed throttle plate setting. Throttle plate setting (TRC) should allow engine to idle at 750 RPM with ISC motor
disconnected. If setting is incorrect, adjust to correct setting. Refer to the 1986 Ranger/Bronco II Shop Manual, Section 24-03.
NOTE:
Before adjustments, apply Ford Threadlocker #242 (E0AZ-19554-A) to TRC screw and throttle body casting. Due to
the fast curing rate (20 minutes), adjustment should be made immediately.
2.
Remove existing EEC IV processor and replace with new EEC IV processor, Refer to the following application chart.
