ISSUE:
An air draft may enter the passenger compartment through the door handles and/or the power window/door lock switches. When the
windows, vents, or sun roof are fully or partly open a vacuum develops inside the passenger compartment that pulls air through the handles
and switches.
ACTION:
To correct this, install foam gaskets (E7TZ-14521-A) around both door handles and switches. Refer to the following service procedure.
1.
Use foam gasket (E7TZ-14521-A) - one (1) is required on vehicles without power windows/door locks, three (3) are required on vehicles with
power windows/door locks.
2.
Remove screws holding arm rest area of trim panel to door inner panel.
3.
Remove screw holding door inside handle cup. Remove cup.
4.
Vehicles WITHOUT power windows:
-
Remove screw holding door window regulator handle and remove handle and washer.
Vehicles WITH power windows:
-
Remove screws holding switch bezel to trim panel.
-
Remove bezel and switch from panel, then remove switch retaining screw from back of bezel.
5.
At each plastic clip location inside door, pry trim panel away from door inner panel. Remove trim panel.
NOTE:
Do not remove watershield. The foam gaskets are installed OVER watershield.
