Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, Cooling Hose Clamp

All vehicles
  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Cleaner - 1.6L Duratorq-TDCi (DV) Diesel (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the center console extension.
    For additional information, refer to: Verlängerung - Mittelkonsole (501-12, Removal and Installation).
Vehicles built from 03/2007
NOTE:
NOTE:This operation is only required on vehicles with centre armrest.
  1. Remove the center console.
    For additional information, refer to: Mittelkonsole - gebaut ab 03/2007, Fahrzeuge ausgestattet mit Mittelarmlehnenmerkmal (501-12, Removal and Installation).

  1. Remove the selector lever bracket.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the gearshift console reinforcing element left-hand bracket.

  1. Remove the gearshift console reinforcing element right-hand bracket.

  1. Remove the heater housing drain hose using the special tool.

8. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Adjust the selector lever cable.

Removal Details

Item 1 : Transmission-side selector lever cable
  1. Detach the selector lever cable from the transmission.
    1. Detach the selector lever cable from the selector mechanism.
    1. Lift the locking tab, press the locking pins together and detach the selector lever cable from the abutment.

Item 2 : Selector lever-side selector lever cable
  1. Detach the selector lever cable from the selector lever.

  1. Detach the selector lever cable from the abutment.
    • Lift the locking tab, press the locking pins together and detach the selector lever cable from the abutment.

Item 3 : Selector lever cable nuts

  1. Raise the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Anheben mit Hebebühne (100-02, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the front heat shield.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Detach the selector lever cable from the clip.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Remove the selector lever cable.
    • Discard the selector lever cable nuts.
