Remove the air cleaner.

CAUTION:Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent. Detach the gearshift cables from the gearshift mechanism. - Release selector cable.
- Detach the selector cable from the selector lever.
- Detach the gearshift cable from the gearshift mechanism.

Ensure that 4th gear is engaged. - Insert a 2.5 mm drill into the gearshift mechanism clamping sleeve and determine height X = 25 mm.
- Shift the transmission into 4th gear.

Remove the gear lever gaiter from the center console. | Vehicles built up to 10/2005 inclusive | | -

Install the special tool. | All vehicles | | -
CAUTION:Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent. Attach the gearshift cables to the gearshift mechanism. - Attach the selector cable to the selector lever.
- Lock the selector cable.
- Attach the gearshift cable to the gearshift mechanism.
