Disassembly and Assembly

Electric hand drill
Blind rivet gun
WARNING:
WARNING:Note the position of the wiring harnesses, to aid installation. An incorrectly routed wiring harness could become damaged when the seat is moved. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
  1. Remove the side air bag module.
    For additional information, refer to: Side Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).

2. Disassemble the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.

Disassembly Details

Item 1 : Seat backrest pad

NOTE:
NOTE:Note the position of the anti-squeak mat to aid assembly.

Item 2 : Armrest mounting bracket (if equipped)

  1. Remove the armrest mounting bracket.

Item 3 : Lumbar support (if equipped)

  1. Remove the lumbar support.
    1. Detach the retaining springs.
    1. Detach the retaining tangs.

  1. Remove the lumbar support adjuster.
    • Remove the screws.

Item 4 : Seat backrest recliner motor (if equipped)

  1. Remove the seat backrest recliner motor drive shaft inner retaining clip.
    • Discard the retaining clip.

  1. Detach the seat backrest recliner motor drive shaft from the motor.

  1. Detach the seat backrest recliner motor.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt bushes.

Assembly Details

Item 5 : Seat backrest frame

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If installing a new seat backrest frame that is equipped with a seat backrest recliner handwheel, the seat backrest recliner handwheel drive shaft must be aligned.
    Align the seat backrest recliner handwheel drive shaft.
    • Seat backrest recliner handwheel drive shaft end protusion at the outer side of the seat backrest frame XX = 25 mm.
    • Clearance between the seat backrest frame and the seat backrest recliner handwheel drive shaft retaining clips YY = 2 mm.

Item 4 : Seat backrest recliner motor (if equipped)

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new seat backrest recliner motor drive shaft inner retaining clip.

Item 2 : Armrest mounting bracket (if equipped)

  1. Install the armrest mounting bracket.

Item 1 : Seat backrest pad

WARNING:
WARNING:Side air bag deployment may be impaired if the seat backrest pad and anti-squeak mat are not correctly positioned around the side air bag module. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
