Seating - Rear Outer Seat Backrest Cover C-MAX 2003.75 (06/2003-)
Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the rear outer seat. For additional information, refer to the Owner’s Literature.

2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

Item 7 : Seat securing cord and housing

  1. Detach the backrest cover from the underside of the backrest.
    • Detach the retaining strip.

  1. Remove the seat securing cord and housing.
    1. Rotate the retaining clip 90 degrees counterclockwise.
    1. Detach the retaining clip.
    1. Release the retaining clips.
    1. Remove the cord and housing.

Item 9 : Head restraint guides

  1. Roll the backrest cover up the backrest to access the lower ends of the tensioning rods.

  1. Detach the lower ends of the tensioning rods from the backrest.
  1. Roll the backrest cover up the backrest to access the upper ends of the tensioning rods.

  1. Detach the upper ends of the tensioning rods from the backrest.
  1. Roll the backrest cover up the backrest to access the upper end of the spring frame.

  1. Detach the backrest cover from the front of the backrest pad.
    • Cut the hog rings.

  1. Remove the head restraint guides.

Item 10 : Safety belt guide

  1. Remove the safety belt guide.
    1. Release the front retaining tangs.
    1. Release the rear retaining tangs.

Item 13 : Backrest cover tensioning rods

  1. Remove the tensioning rods from the backrest cover if a new backrest cover is to be installed.

Installation Details

Item 12 : Backrest cover

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:If a replacement backrest cover is to be installed, cut the holes for the head restraint guides. Use the existing backrest cover as a template.
    Use hog ring pliers to close the hog rings. Do not use any other tool. The hog rings must be closed to overlap as illustrated.
