This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to revise the Service Procedure and add/correct service parts.
ISSUE:
Water may drip from the evaporator case onto the floor while the air conditioning system is operating. This may be due to insufficient sealing in the
evaporator case or the evaporator case to bulkhead sealing surface which allows water to leak into the vehicle's interior instead of draining through the
intended drain path.
ACTION:
Replace the A/C evaporator case with a revised A/C evaporator case or install an evaporator drain tube extension. Refer to the following Service
Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify concern.
2.
Determine if condensate is leaking from the evaporator case to heater core cover seam or from the drain tube.
3.
If condensate is leaking from the case to heater core, replace the evaporator case with revised Evaporator Case (F7RZ-19850-GB). Refer to the
1996 Contour/Mystique Service Manual, Page 12.02-16.
4.
If the condensate is leaking from the drain tube, install a Drain Tube Extension (D0OZ-8597-B) and Hose Clamp (B7A-8287-A). Refer to Figure
1. Verify the repair.
