Knock Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
NOTE: The Knock Sensor (KS) Is located on the RH side of the cylinder block.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
3. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from knock sensor.
4. Remove knock sensor from cylinder block.
5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten knock sensor to 15-20 Nm (11-15 lb ft).
