Spindle: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and rear brake Anti-lock sensor.
2. Remove rear wheel hub and bearing assembly.
3. On models with rear disc brakes, remove disc brake shield.
4. On models with rear drum brakes, remove brake backing plate and position aside.

5. Disconnect rear suspension tie rod and bushing at spindle.
6. Disconnect rearward rear suspension arm with bushing and forward rear suspension arm with bushing at spindle, then remove strut to spindle

pinch bolt.

7. Remove spindle from strut assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install. When installing rearward and forward rear suspension arms, tie rods and their respective bushings on spindle, tighten

bolts snugly, but do not final tighten until all other components have been installed and vehicle weight is upon wheels.

CAUTION:  Do not use an impact wrench to tighten new wheel hub retainer, as spindle damage may result.
