Contour L4-122 2.0L DOHC VIN 3 SFI (1995)
Heater Core: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove front ash receptacle by pulling outward from console panel.
2. Remove transaxle control selector knob, then pry transaxle control lever plate away from console panel.
3. Remove front console panel to instrument panel screws, then, through ash receptacle opening, console panel to instrument panel screws. Open
console glove compartment, then console panel to front floor pan screws.
4. Raise console panel and ease parking brake handle boot over parking brake release handle.
5. Disconnect cigar lighter knob and element wires, then remove console panel.
6. Remove air bag diagnostic monitor, screws and bracket from heater outlet floor duct.
7. Remove air transfer duct to heater outlet floor duct screw, then push transfer duct up inside of heater outlet floor duct.
8. Remove heater outlet floor duct to heater core cover screws. Release tab on each side of outlet floor duct, then remove duct from heater core
cover.
9. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect heater water hoses from heater core inlet and outlet tubes. coolant loss during heater core removal.
11. Disconnect vacuum supply hose (black) from vacuum source in engine compartment.
12. Lower vehicle, then disconnect vacuum supply hose (black) from A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket inside vehicle.
