Radiator Hose: Service and Repair
Water Crossover

REPLACEMENT

1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Remove engine air cleaner (ACL) (9600) and air cleaner outlet tube (9B659).
3. Remove radiator (8005) and heater hose from water crossover.
4. Remove oil separator tube from water crossover and oil separator (6B673).
5. Disconnect electrical connector from water temperature indicator sender unit (10884).
6. Remove water crossover retaining bolt and stud bolt from RH cylinder head (6049).
7. Carefully remove water crossover from cylinder heads and disconnect electrical connector from engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT)

(12A648).

8. Inspect water crossover O-rings for wear or damage and replace.
9. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate water crossover O-rings with Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA or-B (in Canada,

Motorcraft CXC-8-B) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A prior to installation of water crossover. Tighten retainers to 8-12
Nm (71-106 inch lbs.). Fill coolant.
