Flywheel: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Install Dial Indicator with Bracketry TOOL-4201-C or equivalent so that the indicator point contacts the flywheel face.
2. Turn the flywheel, making sure to hold it in the full forward or rearward position so that crankshaft end play will not be indicated as flywheel

runout.

3. If the flywheel face runout exceeds specification remove the flywheel and check for burrs between the flywheel and face of the crankshaft

mounting flange.

4. If no burrs exist, check the runout of the crankshaft mounting flange.
5. Replace the crankshaft or flywheel if the runout exceeds the specification of 0.2 mm (0.008 inch).
