Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
CAUTION: The mass air flow hot wire sensing element and housing are calibrated as a unit and must be serviced as a complete assembly. Do not
damage the sensing element (internal to housing) or failure of the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF sensor) may occur.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from mass air flow sensor.
3. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamps on air cleaner outlet tube and throttle body inlet tube. Disconnect tubes from mass air flow sensor.
4. Remove bolts retaining the mass air flow sensor to bracket. Remove mass air flow sensor bracket.
5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mass air flow sensor retaining bolts to 4.7-5.0 Nm (42-44 lb in). Tighten engine air cleaner tube
clamps to 1.4-2.5 Nm (13-22 lb in).
