Overview of Recall 92S43
TO: Selected Ford Dealers
May, 1992
SUBJECT:
Safety Recall 92S43 - 1992 Crown Victoria, ABS Indicator Light Circuit
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Twenty (20) 1992 model year Ford Crown Victoria sedans having standard analog instrument clusters (non-electronic) and built from April 3, 1991
through May 1, 1991.
REASONS FOR RECALL
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) instrument panel indicator lamp wiring harness circuits were not installed in these cars.
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 105, "Hydraulic Brake Systems", requires this lamp to illuminate during ignition switch "on" check of lamp
function and also if an ABS system malfunction occurs during vehicle operation.
To correct this condition, dealers are to modify the 14401 wiring assembly behind the instrument panel, to provide the ABS indicator lamp circuits.
