This article supersedes TSB 06-02-8 to update the Service Procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2005-2006 Crown Victoria police and taxi vehicles built before December 13, 2005, and 2005-2006 Lincoln Town Car Limo vehicles may exhibit
a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0305, possibly accompanied with P0316, P0171, and/or P0174 especially
after extended idle. This condition may be caused by fuel vaporization near injector Number 5.
ACTION
Use the following Service Procedure to resolve the concern.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the engine top cover, if equipped, (9E766) to allow increased air circulation.
NOTE
THE 2006 CROWN VICTORIA SHOULD NOT BE EQUIPPED WITH THE 9E766 COVER, IT WAS DELETED FROM PRODUCTION AT
JOB 1.
2.
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS/IDS release B42.12 and higher or B43.3 and higher. This
new calibration is not included in the B43 CD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
